Lazy Saturdays and Crazy girl

I feel like lazy Saturday mornings are few and far between around here. So we try to take advantage so most we can. My kids are kids after my own heart and love to create, so we decided on painting . It is so fun to watch all of their personalities come out.

this is our crazy girl :) we say she is "wirey" if that is even a word. she is our most fearless and keeps us on edge a tad bit more than all of the others. Not 1 minute into painting she stuck her hand straight into the paint... it was too cute not to capture.
This is her serious face, anytime she is concentrating... cracks me up!

Grace leads the charge in creativity, she is so much like me it is crazy. I just love her so much!!!

So proud of her pink hands...

Bye-bye pretty paint colors... hello brown...

Miles is so in love with his big brother. He lights up when  Fisher is around, I love it!

Sister's and Coloring

One of my favorite things about homeschooling my kids is that they get to spend so much time together. Sometimes that is a bad thing :) but sometimes it is the sweetest thing! Harper and Grace are two peas in a pod. They are both girly and love to put on makeup and color. Most days you will find them both in the playroom coloring together. It melts my heart everytime!

Grace is a little artist, she colors so good and can spend an h our on one piece of art, she is a girl after my own heart! I have even found piles of crumpled up paper on the floor beside her because she just couldn't get it quite right...I love that girl.

I  love this picture because it is a perfect picture of Grace and Harper's relationship: Grace working hard and Harper wanting so bad to be a big girl and keep up.

Harper's pictures are normally comprised of a lot of scibble-scrabble. she is hillarious when she colors, she gets a super serious face and then just goes as fast as she can...

I have been thinking a lot about my goals for 2014 and I think I have finally come up with my word: CAPTURE! I have such a tendency to be looking forward to things in my life and missing out on what is right in front of me. I find myself wishing the days away, only to find that life is passing by so quickly. So, my goal this year is to CAPTURE life's simple and beautiful moments that are all around me. Everyday I get to see glimpses of who my kids are growing up to be and I find myself forgetting so quickly the stages and quirks and smiles that are fading quickly. I want to challenge myself to take a breath and slow down, to take it all in and to take the time to capture it. To really see the beauty all around me, the love that surrounds me, the giggles, the spills, the memories, the friendships, the messes that fill my day. It is not always pretty, but it is my life, the life God has for me, and I want to remember the details!

So here begins a year of capturing the everyday, routine, beautiful moments of 2014!

This is Grace's "thing" right now. All over our house and all of the time she is doing cartwheels! It's adorable and annoying at the same time, like when she knocked a cup of freshly poured milk out of my hand because she was doing cartwheels in the kitchen But this is where we are right now and one day she is going to think cartwheels are for babies... So I want to CAPTURE it now!

Harper's room

Harper's room was for some reason so hard for me to get motivated to do. I am not sure if it was just that her room had the most no fun work to do, or that I am just tired.
I really had a blank slate to work with, so I started with what I had. I had a crib, changing table, rocker and bedding. So, really I had all of the big things, and I got to just do the fun stuff. The cool part about this room is that I spent less than $100 on it!

Here it is the day we moved in...

Here it is today.... quite a difference!!

The biggest change was  painting the walls and the trim. I painted the walls a really pretty watery blue called Serendipity by Olympic and the trim is white. It gave so much light to the room. I hated going in there before because it was dark and had no "happy" in it, now it is my favorite room!!

I added this over her crib, it was the easiest project ever! Just buy some hoops and put fabric in them... and your are done!!

This art was super easy as well, I had a bunch of extra frames from our hallway project and so I just put some fabric in them and hot glued a silk flower on top... another easy peasy project!!

The star in the window, is a fun addition to the changing table wall, it is made of FREE paint stirrers that I hot glued together and painted pink...

I have a small obsession with all things monogrammed, so I had to have something with her name on it in her room. this is just a canvas with her name painted on it.

I love how the room turned out, and I love going in there to get my sweet baby girl!!!

Let there be LIGHT!!

Over the past few months I have been working so hard to update our fixer that we bought a few months ago. It has come such a long way. I have been painting and painting and more painting! It still amazes me how much a can of paint and some elbow grease can change a room so much. Take it form the 70's to 2013! I love the changes, but man, painting trim might be the worst job in the world!!!

Here is our entry when we moved in... ugh... is all I can say... those colors are just not us...

It for sure had some potential, but needed so LOVE!
Here it is now... painting all of the trim and doors white made this small space so bright and a great place to welcome our guests.

I added some gold stenciling to give it a little bit of elegance without being too serious, because we are for sure not serious ;)

As you move from the entry you enter our family room, it was pretty plain and dark as well.

This is the day we moved in...

Here it is today... I just love it! It represents our personality so well and is just homey!

All of the trim has been painted white, and the walls were given a nice coat of Amazing Gray! It is such a great color!
I found this awesome vintage laundry basket at a local store and knew I could come up with some sort of use for it. My husband thought it was a stroller when I brought it home... it adds some fun color and a little funk to the room.

I am not sure what to do with the giant fireplace eye sore, for now it is the monster in the room, but maybe one day we will come up with something. It is so big and in such a strange spot it is hard to work with.
And that little cutie is my one- year old, who is everywhere!!! I could not get a picture of this part of the room without her running into the shot, so I just went with it. It really is a miracle at what paint can do, to even the ugliest rooms!!!
